About us

Two young, poor-ish young women who enjoy travelling, and talking about it.

Lapping up our twenties as years to be selfish, we continue to escape our adult responsibilities in the form of plane tickets, backpack upgrades and (sadly) useless Spanish lessons. ¿Por qué?

In the lead up to going away we spend months on backpackers websites and blogs, Lonely Planet, Culture Trip and whatever else we can find to create the mother of all Google Docs. Without degrading the beauty of this system/art form, we thought our plans wasted in a private internet hidey-hole.

Instead, we wanted to share our stories, recommendations, (mostly) successes and (some) failures with our fellow backpacking comrades.

Our trips are fast-moving and cheap, with a focus on people, food and activity. For each trip to earn our seal of approval and continue with our travel traditions, we require:

  • One night’s sleep at an airport
  • A massage
  • Sneaking two in one bed in a hostel
  • A bus ride exceeding 15 hours
  • Last night of the trip in a hotel with a buffet breakfast
  • Lasting 24 hours on above-mentioned buffet breakfast
  • A dirty laundry competition (currently drawing on 2 weeks without washing)…

You might be shocked to know (or not), that we each have 10000 ideas rolling around in our over-active brains at any given time. So in addition to information on specific countries and regions, we’ve also got recipes fit for backpacking kitchens and wallets, suggested podcasts to pass travel days (particularly if you’re meeting the above bus requirement), and a personal section where we will both yarn about what we think about travel, and women, and women who travel.

Travel keeps our hearts full, our heads focused and our families concerned. Hopefully this blog helps you feel the same.
